What to Bring to the Hospital

For You:

  • Breast pads
  • Sanitary napkins
  • Shampoo, soap
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Hairbrush and hair dryer
  • Easy access nightgown/bras for breastfeeding
  • Slippers (cheap or disposable) or flip flops (for shower)
  • Lip chap
  • Water bottle
  • Nipple cream (such as Lanolin)
  • If you plan to pump and have one, bring it with you
  • Laptop or radio for entertainment (if you wish)
  • Pocket money if you wish to buy snacks
  • Telephone long distance card

For Baby:

  • Baby’s hairbrush
  • Diaper Cream
  • Disposable diapers (only 5 disposable diapers will be provided by hospital)
  • Cloth diapers are provided by the hospital if you wish to use these
  • Wet Wipes
  • Infant sleepers (hospital has some if you don’t bring them)
  • Soothers
  • Bonnet or hat
  • Baby mitts (to prevent scratches on face from baby’s nails)
